The completed window

Hotwells, Bristol

When the owner of an eighteenth century town house was restoring the building he was stumped by the appearance and function of an original window. It had once been a sliding sash but had been modified to a much neglected hinged casement.

The local Conservation Officer insisted that the original window was restored and returned to its sliding sash function. WR removed the sash to the workshop where it was carefully repaired. The box was renovated in situ and the two elements of the window were restored to their original appearance and function.
